When Tom and Elisa Dalrymple moved to Llano they wanted to find a building large enough to house both of their hobbies. In this case it had to be a big building because Tom’s business/hobby is race cars! The space at 122 East Main Street was absolutely perfect. It had once belonged to Tom’s grandfather and was large enough to hold his race car prep shop and would make a great storefront for Elisa to host local artisans and antiques.
As they restored what was once the old Ford Dealership, they fell in love with the building, the town and their new friends. Artisans would walk in and say “Hey, could I bring some of my work in and display it in your store?” Or “I have some antiques I am ready to sell.” That is how Material Things got started.
Now more than 35 artisans display their works at Material Things. You will find work by photographers, woodworkers, seamstresses, jewelers, potters, quilters and more. The back part of the store has really expanded into a resale area that offers antiques and tons of great vintage finds! We really do get new items in DAILY!
Materials Things has something for everyone! We have things for women, men and children! And if someone is interested in race cars they can wander into Tom’s area. Come on by and see what you can find — you might even make a new friend!
